Description
This chilli is a prodigious perennial native to the Andes region of South America. It has a rigorous growth more like a large bush than a chilli plant and can reach 4 metres and can live as long as 15 years. A fully grown plant can yield as much as 20KG’s of delicious lemon sized fruit in one season. The fruits have a sweet taste yet due to high levels of Dihydrocapsaicin, they do leave a very hot lingering burn, which makes them feel hotter than similar SHU rated chillies. Bolivian hairy chillies are known for their beautiful iridescent purple flowers, hairy leaves and stems, and jet black seeds.
Our seeds are grown in Melbourne Australia, and the original cutting is from a strain producing very hot (100,00+ SHU) bright red fruit. With proper care, these seeds will produce very healthy plants bearing fruit in the first season. They are extremely cold tolerant for a chilli, hence the long life span.
Fruits from these chillies can be used for a variety of means including salads (if you dare), adding to recipes as fresh chillies, making sauces, drying and powdering.
Each packet contains approx. 10 or 20 premium quality chilli seeds from plants we have grown and cared for.
